There are 36 Junior Colleges (Community Colleges) in Texas that have baseball
programs. Junior Colleges, often referred to as JuCos, differ from NCAA colleges
in important areas. They are allowed to offer up to 24 scholarships. These are
full scholarships and cannot be split up in 50% or 25% scholarships. Players are
still eligible for the MLB draft after attending only one year. Nor do athletes
have to meet the same minimum college test scores and grade as the NCAA. Many
JuCo players end up transferring to major university baseball programs. Many of
the colleges will list the schools there players have transferred to.
However, in general, JuCo baseball programs do not have budgets for
recruiting which means that the players have to actively contact the coaches at
these programs. You can start by filling out the recruit questionnaire available
on many of the programs' websites. Also some JuCos will have tryouts for
graduating high school seniors in the fall of their senior year. The information
is usually posted on their websites.
